Indulge in regular exercise
Regular exercise is one of the most effective ways to maintain your weight and remain healthy. Exercise has many benefits and it is important to make it a priority in your life. Being fit does not have to mean working out in a closed gym all the time – it is about altering your lifestyle to be active as much as you can and derive the benefits of cardiovascular exercise. Walking a few times a week and combining it with riding your bike at home or in a gym gives you the right amount of exercise plus some variety to keep you from getting bored.
If you do an activity you actually enjoy, you are more likely to continue on with it. You can do a collective sport with your friends and family – for example going hiking/ sailing/ swimming on the weekend. This is a great way to combine entertainment with exercise.
Have a balanced diet
Eating a balanced diet not only ensures weight control and maintenance – it also promotes a healthy body full of energy and vitality. To maintain your weight, eat a balanced diet containing foods from all categories according your needs. Make sure you get your primary source of carbohydrates from whole grains and breads and not from white flour or processed grain. Eat 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruits. Regulate the kind of fat you eat – choose sources that have unsaturated fat like olive oil. Make sure you include nuts and seeds for the extra nutrients. Don’t forget healthy power foods like green leafy vegetables, cold water fish like salmon and tuna that are rich in Omega 3 fatty acids, soy protein etc.
Manage stress at work
Managing stress at work is a huge part of our emotional well-being since we spend more time at work than with friends and family. Ensure you have a balanced work load by having good relationships with your managers and colleagues.
